Mortgage lending is on an "upward trajectory" after a slow start to the year, a lenders' group has said.
Lending to first-time buyers and home movers increased in the third quarter of the year compared with the previous three months. It was also on the rise compared with the same period last year, the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) said.
Many borrowers are seeing the benefits of low costs owing to the continuing record low in the Bank rate.
